The St. Monica Novena, August 2023

The next novena we’re praying together is the St. Monica Novena!

St. Monica prayed for her son’s conversion for more than 15 years. She wept and prayed constantly with faith and hope in God.

What was the result of all those years of prayer? One of the great saints in the history of the Church: her son, St. Augustine!

That’s why Saint Monica is known for her intercession for those who have fallen away from the faith.

It’s also why we recommend that you pray this novena with the intentions that you’ve been praying for the longest — St. Monica is the perfect intercessor for those intentions!

Additionally, Saint Monica is also the patron saint of alcoholics, married women, mothers, wives, and difficult marriages.

Here’s a talk about St. Monica & St. Augustine from our most recent online retreat. “Nothing is impossible with God. Saint Monica is proof of that.”

You can join us in prayer here, and you can share your prayer intentions with us all below.

We’re praying for you!

  1. I am restarting this novena. I am praying it for my husband who is falling away from the church, as well as for my teenage son for him to continue to walk on moral ground. And I especially pray this, for my older son, who is not only fallen away from the church, but has chosen a life of sin, he has disconnected himself from family and has continued to push us further away. I pray not only for his return to the church but to his family also who miss and love him so very much. Thank you.

  2. Please pray the my son’s current situation will turn around in his favor, and he can continue to work on turning his life around, return back to God and his family.
