It’s the Holy Spirit Novena for Pentecost!
Novenas are an ancient tradition that goes back to the days of the Apostles.
Jesus told His disciples to pray together after His ascension into heaven, so they went to an upper room along with the Blessed Virgin Mary, (Acts 1:14) and joined constantly in prayer for nine days.
These nine days of constant prayer by the Apostles at the direction of Jesus led up to Pentecost. This is when the Holy Spirit descended upon the disciples as “tongues of fire” (Acts 2:1-4). This pattern of 9 days of prayer, leading up to a feast day or final day, is the basis of the novenas we pray today!
Thus, the novena is an imitation of the Lord’s command to the Apostles when they prayed for 9 days in anticipation of the coming of the Holy Spirit.
And that’s why we pray all of our novenas for nine days, followed by one final prayer on the 10th day (which is usually the feast day).
he Holy Spirit plays a BIG part in our lives.
So, as we pray, ask the Holy Spirit for something concrete and measurable.

Please pray for my family. Pray for K God knows who he is. We are in a pickle. His mother and father died within a year of each other. He was living with his godfather and he bailed out because the wife did not want to follow through with taking care of him. Now he lives with my aunt and I agreed to take him but now I don’t think I can. I don’t want him to go into foster care or be in a home that is abusive. He needs to be with a family member but someone that is younger. Please pray with me that A finds a good stable home with love that will help him achieve success and love of Christ within the family. People have stepped up but that is not a good place for him to be. I want God all in this and no one else and if he needs to be with us. I need to hear Gods voice. Hello, Im late for the novena of the spirit I kindly request my prayer petition as Im going through hard times things are just getting challenging for me both financially and mentally and in my relationship too. Im clinging to the hope that the Lord hasnt forseken me but at times It feels like Im battling alone. I really need a miracle.

Pray for Makenna, she finished a Detox program for drug use and is now going for outpatient therapy. Pray God lifts her up and blesses her and has mercy on her that she may be successful and get her life together. Pray she accepts Jesus as her savior. Pray she can get a job. God’s graces for autistic son’s living situation, behaviors and focus; for health–lower rbc/hgb and lipid results.
God’s graces for me as I struggle to keep it all together. I need help with my surrender to God. It’s an overwhelming task to keep everything in place for my son.
My intention is for my children to follow God’s will in their lives, for my brother to be reconciled with his children, and for my brother and his family to return to the Catholic Church.

6. Husband for my sister (S) and fruit of the womb for my siblings.
7. Reconcile my brother and his wife.
