Pope Francis ElectedThe College of Cardinals has elected a new Pope!

Formerly Cardinal Jorge Mario Bergoglio of Buenos Aires Argentina, our new Holy Father has taken the name Pope Francis!

He is a Jesuit – the first Jesuit to ever become Pope. He is also the first Pope from South America!

I have always felt close to St. Francis of Assisi. Please join me in praying the prayer of St. Francis for our new Pope!

Lord, make me an instrument of your peace,
Where there is hatred, let me sow love;
Where there is injury, pardon;
Where there is doubt, faith;
Where there is despair, hope;
Where there is darkness, light;
Where there is sadness, joy.
O Divine Master,
grant that I may not so much seek to be consoled, as to console;
to be understood, as to understand;
to be loved, as to love.
For it is in giving that we receive.
It is in pardoning that we are pardoned,
and it is in dying that we are born to Eternal Life.

Amen.

We were praying the novena for the conclave, but now that the conclave is over and we have a new Holy Father, we will continue praying specifically for Pope Francis.

  6. Lord,
    Thank you for sending the Holy Spirit to guide the Cardinals in their choice for our pope. The church is in serious need of a leader who can return us to the church of Jesus Christ. Jesus wanted us to take care of the sick, needy and downtrodden. He wanted us to be compassionate and merciful. We see so little of this in our world and unfortunately sometimes in our church. Pope Francis is just what we need to return the church to its roots. Let us all pray for him and our church.

  7. May Pope Francis, lead the Church with peace for all. may he listen to the requests of the people who wish to be apart of the Church and who wish to follow our Lord.. May he have good health and happyness all his days.
    God Bless Pope Francis

  13. I Pray for Pope Franics for many years to come I pray that god is with him always. I feel spring time for new beginings for all.

  14. I pray that the Holy Spirit will give Pope Francis the strength and determination to stand firm for Church doctrine against the endless wave of secular pressure, including many people who say they are Catholic like many politicians who receive the Body of Christ yet support abortion at every opportunity. There is so much evil in the world, protect us and protect our Pope. In Jesus’ name. Amen

    • Well said.

      Doctrine is Sacred. Do hope Pope Francis doesn’t throw the baby out with the bath water.
      Mother Church has some very beautiful traditions.

  15. Praise and thank the Lord for Pope Francis may he by his tenderness help bring PEACE in the world torn by war and corruption.

  16. Congratulations to all for our new pope- Francis the first.

    He needs us as much as we need him.
    Let us continually pray for our pope as I am
    sure he will always pray for all mankind as
    well and without our prayers He cannot
    succeed.

    Thank and God bless you all

  17. We are so blessed Pope Francis, that you have entered into our lives. Your humility will make people understand that others do come first. It is not a “me” first world. People will see the good that you do and there will be a change that will occur. Thank you, all powerful and gracious lord, Our God. Please keep Pope Francis as calming and humble as he is. Also keep Emeritus Benedict as a guide. We so appreciate Your love, Almighty God and Father. Amen.

  18. Thank you Lord for Pope Francis. Guard and guide Him to lead our Holy Catholic

    Church. I am overjoyed my parish is also St Francis. God bless our beloved Pope.

  19. My Beloved Father Francis,
    With every cell of my body and mind, I know this was directed by God. I, too, am a Franciscan, and I feel the love that is eminating from you here in the States. I feel your love, dear Father. Praise God !
    Barbara Travis, Secular Franciscan

  20. dear Lord, please make our Pope Francis I physically, mentally and spiritually strong to serve you forever and ever and for eternity.

  21. It is my hope and my prayer that our St. Francis will bring a compassion to our world. I believe that Jesus was the Master of compassion. And I see the same quality in our Pope. There are so many of us who could learn and live the example St. Francis has placed before us.

  22. May God Almighty grant Pope Francis,the strength and fortitude,to continue the ministryand church of Christ,I bless and cover him with the precious blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. Be with him Lord Jesus. Amen.

  23. Praise and thanksgiving for the election of humble Pope Francis to lead and protect our Holy Catholic Church. Thank you for the guidance of the Holy Spirit for the Cardinals in choosing this Pope. May the Lord hold him in the palm of His hand from this day on through his reign.

  24. I pray first in thanksgiving and deep gratitude for a God who loves us enough to inspire our Cardinals to pick this holy man of God to be our Pope! I ask that God protect him from all evil, keep him strong and firm in resolve as he rebuilds our church, and gentle and compassionate to a world sorely in need of witnessing the Good News of what it means to be a follower of Jesus Christ. In all things, may God’s desires for our church be brought to bear through Pope Francis. Amen+

  25. Lord, God we give you praise and thanks for our new Pope Francis. Thank you for his humility and love for your people and planet. Please continue to bless and guide him so he may lead your Church according to your Will. AMEN.

  26. With praise and thanksgiving for Pope Francis, I humbly submit that the Catholic church in some parts of America have lost their way. With 60% of Catholics in my state voting for a president who holds God and religion in such disdain, my faith has been sorely tested. Abortion, euthanasia, government sponsored heath care death panals are not Catholic values. Reiteration of our basic tenants and restoration of faith based charity for the poor might be a good place to start.

    I pray that Pope Francis will guide Catholics and all people of faith to respect life and nature as Christ and St. Francis of Assisi has shown us.

  27. I am most pleased with our new Pope. He seems to be more for the people.

    I pray for him daily, and thank God for sending us a Pope of the people.

  28. I hope the pope will not be so radical on the faithful in the light of a usual Jesuit as they re radicals by trainin, and I hope that all the issues all the outstandin issue especially on rape and asault will be completely resolved.

  29. I cried tears of grief when Bl. Pope JP II passed away in April, 2005.
    I cried tears of anquish when Pope Ben XVI announced his resignation on February 11 until his last day in office on February 28.
    And I cried tears of relief and jubilation when white smoke finally exited the chimney top of the Sistine Chapel on March 13.

    Thank you dearest Holy Spirit for giving us a good shepherd in Pope Francis I, the Servant of the servants of God. I welcome him into my open heart. My allegiance is to the Most Holy Trinity, the Catholic Church, and to our new Papa.
    Jesus, I trust in You.

  30. Our Holy Father looks calm but full of intelligence, we believe he will not make decisions that will compromise the Church. We pray he sticks to our values as Catholics. Our prayers go to God for his guidance always.In all we thank God for everything.

  31. Thank You, Almighty God and Father, for giving us a Pope for this
    time! We need a holy, joy-filled outgoing Popewho will, with the Holy
    Spirit, draw all men back to You, dear Lord. Inspire him and us to
    share and care and help one another physically and spiritually. So
    many need You who don’t even know You! We thank You and we love
    You for allowing us to be born for such a time as this. Prosper the
    work of our hands. Prosper the work of our hands. Jesus, I trust
    in You!

  32. I believe that we are truly blessed to have Pope Francis as our holy father! May God bless him with good health, continued wisdom, and an abundance of grace!

  33. As a southamerican and catholic as I am, I am very happy for our new Pope he is very humble man, let’s pray for him everyday a Our Father, Hail Mary and Glory be, he needs our support specialy in this times that we are living.
    God and the Blessed Mother bless you always.

  34. Let us pray for unity,honesty and brotherliness among those working closely with our Holy Father.

    Let us pray that he continues to seek guidance from The Holy Spirit and Mother Mary.

  35. Thank you Holy Spirit for inspiring all the cardinals for sellecting such a humble servant and for picking a name Francis after St.Francis of Assissi.
    Today he will officilially be pope Francis and today is also a blessing because it is St. Joseph’s day.
    My prayer is that God continues to bless, guide and protect him from all things that it is not of God. And finally that he will be the pope that God wants him to be.

  36. I pray that Pope Francis takes up where Pope Benedict and Pope JP ll left off and lead the church to even greater strengths through the chaos of the secular world today. Let him reiterate that the Catholic church is not a democracy that changes law according to popular vote or will and that Eternal Word of our Lord and the teaching Magisterium of his established church is never changed or watered down.

  37. I am so happy with the selection of our new Pope Francis ,I have no doubts the holy spirit was at work here , We Catholics now need to focus on our creed and fight against the forces of evil that are attacking the mother church from inside and out ,

    God bless Pope Francis

  38. Dear John Paul,
    God is so good! I prayed specifically for a humble man to be chosen for our Pope and my prayers were answered.
    He will be such a joy for all of us! He makes me laugh when he eludes security just to talk with the “ordinary folk”. He has a mischievous streak in him!

    May our Lord Jesus through the intercession of our Blessed Mother and the guidance of the Holy Spirit watch over, guide, and protect our Beloved Pope Francis!

    Amen

  39. Please Please help this world..so much evil. We need to be strong together and bring people to the church again. Especially in the United States!!!!

  40. My prayer is that Pope Francis hears the world, the “cry of God’s people” but listens especially to God as to what He wants Pope Francis to do for the world, and not so much what the world wants him to do.

  41. The Holy Spirit has done a good job. Pope Francis is the exact person that is needed for the present time. He is endowed with various gifts that the church and society needs today. He is also a very inspired person, also in choosing the name, which also signifies that the church is in need of repair, and is the person for this task, which he will fulfil in his unique way. I think Pope Francis is a wonderful gift to all. It is our duty to keep him in our prayers, both for his temporal and spiritual well-being.

    May the Lord Bless and Keep Pope Francis !

    Ad Multos Annos, Long Live Pope Francis !

  42. We are truly blessed to have a Pope concerned about the poor of the world. At a time when we see Churches being demolished and rebuilt or plans to spend lakhs on LED screens in Cathedrals the strong message should send our clergy to rethink on such wasteful expenditure especially since we can see so much poverty around in our nation. By reaching out to the underpriviledged we will be putting Jesus Christ’s words into action.M.A.Michael, New Delhi,India.

  43. In the Modern world where material well-being is the focus we have been shown God’s mercy with the new Pope Francis who wants us to focus on the poor.I commit to continued prayer for Pope Francis and the church leaders.

  44. Dear Lord,

    Thank you for Pope Francis. Please give him wisdom to listen to you guidance for the Catholic Church. Mother Mary, please pray for the pope and all of us!

  47. Dear Most Holy Father,
    I am so thankful that you were chosen to lead our Church, and pray daily for you to continue to be the Light of Christ and preach the Gospel to the World.

  48. I have been so joyful since he was elected. He reminds me so much of Christ with his humility and love for the poor. I am proud to be a catholic. May the holy spirit never depart from him .Amen.

  49. We are Blessed with this new Pope, who seems to want to blend with all people, he seems not afraid to go about openly. He certainly resembles Jesus in the Gospels.
    May he have strength and good health in the years ahead, and God thank you for giving us such a holy and simple man to lead us to you.
    Amen.

  50. Pope Francis is a wonderfully humble man who will lead the church in the direction of love for the poor and compassion for the oppressed . Hopefully we as Catholics we will follow his guidance and become a peace loving world.

  51. Praise be to Jesus, Honor to Mary.
    I pray that God will continue to Guide Him all the days of his life and as He is not willing to do that which is against the will of God IJN.

  58. Pope Francis seem to be a promising one! I had gotten upset by the prophecy that Pope Emiritus was the last true pope on earth and that the church would be ruled by Peter the servant of God from heaven. Let’s hope, if the prophecy was true, that God because of prayers, changed the plans of the devil.

  59. I humbly thank God, for giving us, what we need at the right time in our lives and our Church, I am excited, and will pray for Holy Spirit’s guidance.

  61. My heart overflows with joy for our new Pope. His name says everything of humility and love for all Gods creatures, and especially the poor. Thank you Holy Spirit for touching the hearts of all who elected this humble man to guide all of humanity during these difficult times. May God bless him and give him wisdom from the Holy Spirit as he leads our church. May he enjoy good health of mind and body. May he have the strength he needs to accomplish good works, guiding and leading the Mother Church to holiness. May the almighty God help him bring peace and love to this world so much in need of much guidance, during these difficult times of war, terrorism, sin and anxiety. Amen

  62. We are blessed to have this pope at this time, praise be to the Holy Spirit! I am confident that this blessed man is the right choice to lead us through the challenges that the Holy Catholic Church now faces; I like the idea of the Pope being someone very humble and close to the poor who can relate to everyone. In this way he leads by example and encourages and inspires many people. I have sensed such joy since he was chosen and pray that the Holy Spirit continues to lead through Pope Francis, renewing and awakening the church! Thank you for the novena prayers, they are wonderful!

  63. Our Lord in His goodness has seen fit to give us a wonderful, holy, prayerful successor to Peter. We give thanks for the gift of Pope Francis.

  64. I pray in thanksgiving to God the Father for enabling the College of Cardinals to elect a new Pope, and giving us Pope Francis as our Pope. May Almighty God bless him with immense wisdom and grace to lead Christians and Catholics specifically, aright. May the Holy spirit continue to direct his ways and may our Lady of Good Counsel continue to intercede for him, these I pray for through Jesus Christ our Lord and Saviour. Amen.

  65. One can tell God loves us with Pope Francis.
    Thank you for the prayers. May we be people of hope
    and prayer all the days of our lives and bring others into
    the love of Christ.
    Thank you

  68. Lord Jesus send down your Holy Spirit upon Pope Francis give keep him healthy and give him the him youthful energy so that he can complete the task on earth that you would have him do. Help him to rebuild the church as you had St Francis of Assisi do many years ago. Make the church stronger and help him to remove those who would seek to destroy the church. And help him to get rid of all corruption and scandalous behavior. This I pray in your name. Amen

  77. O Lord,bless our Pope,Pope Francis.strengthen and protect him always.surround with good people.May he rule over the church according to your holy will.AMEN

  78. I am so thrilled with Pope Francis… I had wondered and wondered who would be Pope and just felt that God was going to surprise us…. I was so worried that some liberals might be trying to get a liberal Pope who would allow women priests, abortion, contraception and the like… I was praying to God to save us from such things, and He gave us the best that could be imagined! Pope Francis is a holy, holy man and is a staunch, dedicated Catholic! This is so wonderful, and I feel God has anointed him especially for these trying and violent times… We are under the mantle and hand of a powerful yet gentle shepherd here on earth, who is guided by the Holy Spirit in his heart… and he is so humble… I mean, I feel he would be so kind to me if we ever met and I am just dust…. Praised be Jesus Christ forever for our Pope Francis! ;)))

  79. I thank the Lord for your selection and I hope and pray that nothing and/or no one can make your afraid to answer your call. We are all praying for your success.

  80. A new Pope Francis I who is concerned with everyone helping the poor and sick of our communities because he has great compassion for others in need. May God Bless him to serve in St. Peters footsteps well and may he make changes here in the US to bring back respectful practices in the US where receiving in the hand has become regular practice instead of an exception in special instances as it was meant to be.

  81. May the Holy Spirit, through the words and actions of Pope Francis, bring healing, peace and joy to our Holy Church. Amen

  82. We are truly blessed with this man as our Pope. I feel there are extraordinary times ahead for our Church under his direction. Thank You Holy Spirit for Pope Francis!

  84. I pray for the safety and well-being of Pope Francis. I pray that he can lead the Church to lead the world to reject the secularism we are faced with. I pray that he can call Catholics everywhere to be active in rejecting secularism in our political leaders and vote our Catholic beliefs.

  85. I am very impressed with Pope Francis’ humility and holiness. His concern for the poor is commendable. I think he will be an outstanding leader.
